In the late 1970’s, the issue of war criminals living in peace in Canada and other Western nations had become notorious. In response, Prime Minister Mulroney established the Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals in Canada or what became known as the Deschenes Commission. It investigated accusations that alleged war criminals from the Second World War had found refuge and were living in Canada.
Come listen to two people who were there. Hear the inside story directly from Alti Rodal, who conducted the principal research for the Deschenes Commission report on Nazi war criminals in Canada and David Matas who represented B’nai Brith Canada.
Join the conversation as our experts:
• Give us their first-hand experience of what happened.
• Explain the findings of the Commissions and the fall out of its report.
• Reveal current attempts to gain an uncensored publication of the report.
